Michele Abolaffio is a live electronics performer, sound engineer and instrument builder. He studied in Sonology and STEIM and has focused his work on the use of biophysical sensor technologies, developing personal instruments that enable a high level of musical expressivity through body data.
His instrument Synaesthesia won the ADE Soundlab grant in 2016 and he’s been touring it around Europe. Synaesthesia aims to explore the musical and corporeal performance practice built upon the active stimulation of the senses of sight, hearing and the perception of the muscles. The instrument is based on a synesthetic system composed of wearable sensors that respond both to bio-signals and dynamically controlled lighting.
