Jon Reus

Jon Reus is an American multi-instrumentalist and new media artist who creates “critical instrumentations”, using methods and sensibilities from folk-craft to remix the techniques of the digital orchestra into an eclectic bricolage of tools and traditions.

Jon came to the Netherlands through a Fulbright Fellowship, developing new digital music instruments at STEIM in Amsterdam, where he went on to work as a research coordinator and artistic board member for a number of years. He has designed educational programs and taught courses on topics of performative sound art and digital instrument design internationally. He is a founding member of the Instrument Inventors Initiative collective based in The Hague. And together with Sissel Tonn, he co-founded Platform for Thought in Motion, a curatorial and social initiative programming formats for artists to cross-over with experts from the sciences and humanities. Jonathan lives and works in the Hague.
